The preferred way of fast contact is by my mobile phone, number, +447710031657, which accepts SMS text messages. If you don't have a mobile phone, there are some services which allow you to send text messages from a browser.
If you really need to get hold of me, and my mobile doesn't connect, I am probably in a railway tunnel or abroad, so try again soon. If I don't answer it I've either put it down somewhere or forgotten to turn the ring volume up again. It's unlikely to be off during the day while I'm in the UK. Send me a text message and an e-mail! I will pick up text messages while abroad, usually several times a day.

I use skype, though it is not on all the time. It seems like a good idea to use the text message facility first, to see whether it is possible to use voice. It can be better than ordinary telephone, specially in the morning. But as all users know, it doesn't always work.
