Page design principles

This is for the redesign using javascript.

All data is contained in elements with classes reflecting the nature of the element. id is used only to identify the parts of the page, not the variable content.

Button presses and touch-driven devices

I'm wondering if it may make sense to have a single touchscreen press equivalent to a pointer hover, with a second press equivalent to click. I need to decide in principle whether there will be any "hover" functionality, and if so how to have it for touch interfaces.
